Our Story
Welcome to Banda Surf– Weligama’s Surfing Hub
I’m Banda, and my surfing journey began in 1999, a time when Weligama was still untouched by the surf culture. Back then, surfing wasn’t popular here—there were just four of us and only one surfboard. We took turns, sharing that single board, teaching ourselves, and embracing the waves with pure passion. Those were the golden days, filled with adventure, friendship, and unforgettable memories.

As Weligama grew into a renowned surf destination, I decided to share my love for the ocean. In 2013, when the main surf point started attracting more surfers, I began giving surf lessons. What started with one surfboard has now become a thriving surf school at Weligama’s main beach.
